The X with a black bezel is very nice (a chap form Sony on AV Forums said they were going to make the X black as standard but never specified when). I don't care for it in silver.
The times I have seen the W it's looked noisier with the same HD feed as an S series model beside it oddly enough, which is why I'd be curious to see the W properly set up. The X does impress me though, I'd just want it in 46" form and frankly ?2600 is more than I consider LCD technology to be worth.

I have resorted to component for the 360 but need to free up a space on my switcher for my Wii when it arrives.
What you need to do is this...
1. Put the freeview on and watch something.
2. Go to the picture settings and choose one of the godawful colour temperature settings that you will never use. (I chose Warm 1)
put the TV to standby then access the service menu by pressing
I+, 5, Vol +, Power (i+ is the button just below the blue button)
press up or down until you see a screen that looks like this
Write down all these values just incase you want to revert it back one day.
Basically I cranked the top 3 options (_DRIVE) as high as they would go (511)
and turned the bottom 3 settings (_BKG) to 400.
Choose colour Save then Ok.
Return to You freeview and change that back to Neutral.
Try your 360/VGA and change the colour settings of viewing only to Warm1.
You might have to tweak the Brightness a little butt he image you now be alot more colourful and noway near as grey.Last edited by EvilBoris; 04-11-2006, 18:05.

Originally posted by Kotatsu NekoI'm really happy with my 42" Tosh. Looks superb with most things as long as you're sat right in front of it (off angle viewing is pretty awful). BBC HD looks amazing in 1080i, as does the 360 through component at 720p. My only real niggle are the black levels, but it's an LCD so I guess that's just par for the course. Can't wait to see HD-DVDs on it.
As for black levels, I measured things last night, and this Sharp is as good as the Panasonic Plasma I had, and if you don't mind a duller image, can go even darker. Just a shame that the gamma is so low, because the image is a lot "flatter" despite this.

I assume the Sony Bravia, being a somewhat decent screen, actually downscales 1080i to the screens native res (1366x768),as opposed to 540p right? Asking cause it might be the optimal way to use that HD-DVD Player.
On that note, some 360 games do support 1080i native, but it's rarely mentioned.
The back of some game boxes say 'HDTV 720p', whereas some say 'HDTV 480p/720p/1080i'... does that mean the game supports those resolutions natively?

I wasn't aware any 360 games were actually at 1920x1080 res, I thought it was just upscaled?

I couldn't fault the picture when looking at it dead on square though, not that I know a great deal about it.
Supports 1080p inputs also

I did assume jaggies were just caused by the low resolution, and interlacing is more about how the signal is encoded and sent.
