I have a modded Xbox with a larger HDD for homebrew and imports, that has a chip I can turn off, that allows normal Xbox Live play with no problems. However I saw a new Halo 2 "anti cheating" patch was released that Bungie said actually checks for unusual things on your HDD, and then bans you from Halo 2 matchmaking.
Apparently this Halo 2 Xbox Live patch is designed to check for modified Halo 2 savegames on the hard drive. I don't have anything of that nature, I've only ever played Halo 2 "pure" and with the chip off, but I'm worried if I login to Halo 2 now, even though the chip is off, it might detect that I have Mame on my hard disk and interpret it as some kind of modified cheating method and ban me anyway from Halo 2 matchmaking.
If that's the case I'd rather just wait until I get an Xbox 360 and then login to Halo 2 from that. I don't want my gamertag to be banned from Halo 2 by mistake with no way to appeal
Has anyone done something like this already and confirmed the Halo 2 anti-cheating patch doesn't ban you for other stuff on your hard disk? Any info appreciated... thanks
