Fixing audio sync problems with mpgs?

I'm having loads of problems with out of sync audio in mpgs I've been converting from avi's. The audio is constantly ahead of the video.

Does anyone know any utilities that I can use to re-sync the mpg files correctly?

Virtualdubmod should do that nicely for you. I use the non-mod version to re-sync avis whenever they've been messed up, so I imagine that it should do the job just as well.
