Making a new Shuttle PC.

Hey guys, I'm looking to make a Shuttle when I get home, I think this is the set-up for me... what do you guys think? Any problems with that?

Then the Neovo F-19 Monitor and the Neovo TV-Tuner.

This'll be ace, I hope. I'm just not sure how cooling works with Shuttle PCs, and whether I need to buy fans and **** There seems to be a pretty interesting cooling system with the case, but I imagine becuase everything is so small, I'll have problems with heat if I try and OC everything!

Any glaring problems that you can see, I just clicked around e-buyer quickly this morning... any suggestions, recommendations? Any other websites?

The forums at sudhian (http://forums.sudhian.com/) - especially the 'Shuttle XPC' forum - is well worth checking out for all kinds of advice. I've just built a SN25P based system, which (apart from a faulty video card) went really smoothly. The one thing I'd suggest is starting from a SN25P barebones as if you're building a new system now you really want one with PCI-Express rather than AGP graphics, for future upgradeability potential.

Thats the Shuttle I have, fitted with a AGP X800 Pro. As Boatman said, if I were you Id get a PCI-Express one, or like me you might find yourself toying with the idea of selling it all to upgrade to a PCI-E one before long!

I too now have a PCI Express shuttle. Only an x700Pro in it though, however it will run Half Life 2 like a dream. Watch out for trap I fell into with this one....No PCI expansion slots whatsoever so I couldn't use my netgear wireless network card and am forced to wire it into my router (I dont want to pay out more moolah for the shuttle wireless option)

I have the same shuttle as Marcus, it's a wonderful little machine.

I'm still concerned over the overheating in the case, everything is so tightly packed together that it cannot be good for it! It hasn't shown signs of overheating though, which is good.

As far as I remember that Neovo screen, although it has the added benefit console connectivity is short in the refresh rate department. Suggest you check it out Nips.

They do in the SN25P - I'm running a double width X850XT in mine. In fact I'd recommend a double-slot graphics card for the SN25P as exhausting the graphics card's hot air through the back of the case really helps the airflow. The only cards that won't fit are passively cooled ones with a large heatsink on the bottom of the card like this X800XL - http://www.insanetek.com/index.php?p...0xlpcie256mb_1, but cards with a double width fan on the top of the card are just fine on the SN25P.

...but as Ian(notIan) said the downside of the SN25P is that there's no old-school PCI slots on the mobo at all, so forget about adding a Creative Audigy 2 ZS, you'll have to make do with onboard sound, which is fairly decent anyway. There is a PCI-e x1 slot, but like I said on mine it's obscured by the dual-slot graphics.

I'd definitely recommend registering at Sudhian and asking for peeps' advice there anyway, lots of Shuttle experts on that place.

I've checked out that screen, it's got a 12ms reposnse time with no ghosting apparently, and pip, which is ace! The refresh rate is 75Hz, which is the same as my current CRT. Would I really require more?

Sounds good to me Nips. I was thinking back to earlier Neovos, which I considered buying, which only sported 25MS which is of course rip-tear time these days.

Would the 350W PSU in the Shuttle XPC SN25P actually be enough to power all the components? I mean I want to run an X850 and an Anthlon 64 and a DVD Writer... It seems a little underpowered, although these shuttles seem really impressive.
