    Modded Xbox and live account

    hi

i have a question ,ive had a modded xbox for a while now with an old style xenium chip and 120GB HD , ive never been on live but in about 2 months time i really want to check it out and im wondering if its poss to get on there with my modded box or will i have to buy a new xbox

ive noticed that in my xbox apps there is a option called magic config where you can lock and unlock the HD is this the way to get on live without getting banned ??

    Thanks

from my understanding you need the original HDD that came in Xbox plus the chip to be turned off before goes to XLIVE.
Also once you are on you cannot make any change as it will be visible to M$ next time you are on XLIVE and they will ban your xbox console. When that happened the only way to get around would be getting another xbox console or replacing its EPROM data...

get 2nd xbox just for XLIVE...
I built my 2nd unit out of junk/spare parts when I got UK green crystal official replacement case...

If you get banned, they just ban the Xbox - your subscription remains unaffected.

If your modchip can be switched off and if your Xbox hasn't been on Live before, then it should be fine - even with the larger hard drive. Once your Xbox goes on Live though, MS will log the hd and Xbox serial numbers - if the HD serial number changes, they'll ban your machine.

There'll be a switch on the case, usually - if the modders have added one, of course.

Personally I don't use Xbox Live anymore because I didn't want to pay for it, and a lot of the players were pricks. Now I use XLink KAI instead, which uses the System Link function of games and lets you play over the web that way. It works with or without a mod chip.

Not sure about MAME, but I'm guessing that'd be what it was for.

Some modded Xboxes that don't have a switch fitted can have their mods disabled by pressing the power switch down for a certain length of time e.g. :

                  i) Boot user programmable flash bios (press & hold POWER button for 1-2 seconds)
ii) Boot backup bios (press & hold POWER+EJECT buttons until application loads)
iii) Boot original bios, mod disabled (press EJECT button or short press on POWER button)

This is how my old Xbox worked. If the mod was disabled the Xbox logo was green when it booted up, otherwise it was either red or blue.
