    Otogi 2 Help Please

    Hello chaps
Just got the wonderful Otogi 2 for a fiver and have been making steady progress, however i'm now stuck on stage 11 which is where I need to defeat the spider boss.
The level has to be done in one go which isn't too difficult but it is quite frustrating because when I arrive at the final phase I keep getting whacked by the boss.I've figured that you must smash the big green pillars that are on either side of the spider but then I'm lost, what is the next attack?
If I move around to the front he blasts me with fire balls,if I go in close he does a bomb attack which knocks the **** out of me,any help would be appreciated cos I'm desparate to see the next level of this beautiful game.
    Thanks

Im sure you will beat it, my tolerance threshold for difficult bosses has lessened somewhat over the years thats all :-)

The boss on the wind level in the original did had a similar effect.

You just need to chop its limbs away with heavy attacks. That's all there is to it, as far as I remember.

Yep, just had a quick razz on that mission and that's more or less it. Take out the four green pillar/limbs/whatever they are either side of him, then attack his head.

Maybe equip the Incense of Death if you're having trouble, for extra damage against spiders. Either way, he's piece of piss when you know what you're doing. Might set you on fire once, but just do the dash movement a couple of times to put the flames out.

Always wanted to play this game but never found the time , as for the giant spider you mentioned maybe that is the one Raikou ( Minamoto no Yo****sune) fights in Japanese mythology.

Makes me want to play it even more now.

This really is a fine little game and one that really slipped under the radar for me,thank you blockbuster.
Is Otogi as good as this,is it worth getting?

It's not as good - only the one character, less variety in the missions, more frequent and more severe difficulty spikes, less emphasis on story, repetition of level layouts in later missions - but it's still fun. Worth getting if found cheap.

Have to agree. I couldn't really get into Otogi (the part that destroyed it was having to smash four mirrors into four breakable walls, which proved infuriatingly time consuming with the awful camera, only then to find a I died continually at a boss on top).

However, the second on the whole is much more pleasing.

Shallow and broken, yes... but in providing a dreamy world to sink into? Few games provide better worlds.

I don't remember that stage? That's the problem with #1 sometimes, it isn't entirely clear what you need to do in order to clear a stage. There are some very interesting missions though (me? I liked the chained demon and the hydra -- first time I ran, second time I slaughtered him). But yeah, sequel > original, easily. Probably worth it for curiosity's sake, it is a fantastic game.

If you do get stuck, both endings are on www.game-endings.co.uk

Although it's been a couple of years, I think it's the second to last level (the final being the boss battle).

There are loads of silver mirrors, which you have to lock-on to in order to smash through glass walls. Unfortunately, because the lock-on doesn't work properly in conjunction with the camera, it becomes very fiddly.

Otogi suffers from a syndrome Pikmin did which I disliked - you've only got a limited amount of time in each level. As soon as you enter, if you don't obtain a certain amount of magical power, you're screwed. In relation to that particular level, it made play difficult.

Otogi 2 uses the same dynamic, but it's far less imposing, which means it's possible to wallow in the atmosphere and level design much more.
