dumb question to do with uk and asian voltage.

    hi.

i recently got the gt force steering wheel (jap initial d version) and used my snes power pack with it as i dont have a jap to uk convertor.

anyway it didnt work and i'm now worried ive destroyed it, as i didnt take account of the voltage difference and i am a total noob at these things.

    so.. am i buggered?

The voltage that comes out of the SNES power pack will be 9 Volts DC. The steering wheel will require a similar voltage so it shouldn't have fried it. The most likely reason it didn't work it that the adaptor is the wrong polarity.

You'll probably find the steering wheel takes a fair amount of voltage.

Have you looked at the adaptor on the wheel to see if it says 100-240 volts (as the slimline PS2 adaptors work on any voltage).

Did you use a power supply from a PAL SNES? These output 9V AC rather than 9V DC, and it definitely wouldn't be a good idea to use one on something that requires a DC input.
