How do I make my avatar bigger than 80x80 pixels?

I've been trying to make mine bigger (well actually smaller than the original) and succeeded but then failed again somehow.

I've noticed that some peoples avatars are although (no bigger than) 80x80 pixels they are much bigger than other 80x80 avatars...

Please help me!

You need a utillity such as Gif Movie Gear. You can get a trial version of the software from here.

I use it all the time, so give me a shout if you need help using it at all. Or just send me the avatar and I'll do it for you, to your spec, if you can't be arsed messing about ^^
