Xbox dvd drive / Media Player question

Can anyone tell me if my xbox DVD drive will be able to read and play DivX and Mpeg 4 video off DVD-R (though YAMP or XB Media Player)

My xbox is a Ltd. JPN launch model so its Thompson drive I think.

Any help appreciated

Pretty sure any drive can play DVD-R's but I couldn't say for sure.

Mine can

... but you might find some problems with some drive/dvd-r combinations. From what I've read most DVD-Rs run fine on most XBoxen though.

Cheers for the replys. Looks like I'll be fine and its just cd-r's that are a problem
