Just got home from the States...PSP...WOWEE!!!

Hey there, just arrived home from the good ole' U.S. of A. and whilst enjoying the sights and sounds that this great country has to offer, the thing that caught my attention most of all was the awesome Sony PSP in action.

What can I say? I was totally blown away by it and when I see the quality of the movies...that was it, I was sold...so I got me one. Paid $249.99 for the unit plus another $39.99 a pop for Metal Gear Acid and Ridge Racer...plus another $14.99 for House Of Flying Daggers.

Now I'm back home in the U.K. I have a few questions for those amongst you who may be up on these sort of things.

Firstly can I go ahead and use the same stepdown converter I use for my Jap AES/SNES/MD consoles for recharging purposes?

Secondly, I was told by the sales guy that any region PSP games will work on any region PSP consoles BUT because mine is a USA machine that any movies I may want to buy have to be region 1 or ALL...does Japanese movies come under this ALL banner?

Thirdly, what's all this talk I've heard about "firmware updates" & more interestingly "homebrew gaming"

    What's it all about?

    Thanks in advance

You just need a wegular uk 'figure of 8' lead for the charger.

The latest firmware is out (2.0),which includes the web browser,so you can either update to get that or stick on 1.5,which you probably have, and run the emu's.
Emulators only run on 1.0 or 1.5. (for now).

A google will help you find them.

Edit. Games at the mo are region free but movies you'll have to buy US ones.

As Nick said, homebrew/emulator and such only run on 1.0/1.5. Check your
firmware under system info on your psp...

Some handy links if you have 1.0 or 1.5..

        Good luck and happy gaming..

Cheers fellas, currently my PSP is at 1.51 & after downloading PSPhoto, I've successfully got some JPegs on it too. Such a great machine, I'm sure it's gonna sell out everywhere upon release day.

A bloke in my local GAME store said that pre-orders have been so high that the machine won't be available for off the shelf purchases until early next year...sales patter? Probably...but everyone who's seen my PSP in action has said that they will definately buy one regardless of previous GBA or in particular DS purchases.

              Thanks again.
