    What X-Box cable?

    Morning gents,

Ive have just got my friend Simon (you'll like him) a modded X-Box from Tom-Nook.

Simon has a plasma. What i wanted to know as im a bit clueless is what is the best display cable i should get him,as all this talk of VGA,Prog Scan,480,720 etc has me confused as the best i can manage is rgb so never ventured into that world.

I heard talk of modded X-Box's being able to display prog scan, and PAL ones not. How do i activate this, and does it work for the X-Box full stop,or is it game specific?

Is any sort of adaptor needed, vga box etc..?

    Thanks.

    It's relatively painless actually.

With a PAL XBox, you just have to download a program called Enigmah Video Switcher. This will patch his EEPROM to set his machine to NTSC. Not only will you get a true NTSC output (rather than PAL60), but it'll unlock all the HD modes for you.

In order to use the HD modes, you need a Component cable. Also known as the Advanced HD Pack on the XBox.
If his TV lacks a Component input, you can use the VD-Z3 transcoder to hook it up to VGA or DVI-I, but I strongly suspect he will have a Component input.

That's the official MS one. As per usual, official cables are the best.

        Hi Nick,

As Shakey says it's really pretty simple to set up. I'll pm you with a quick tutorial just in case you need it.

        Cheers.

That's third party - it just says some gumpf about only having the MS one in stock on the page.
