jap firmware update on us psp..does it change the region?

i was thinking about this because i have a us psp and the region for umd movies is 1. which you all preety much know.

i recently updated it to the jap 2.0 firmware upgrade a week ago, i was wondering would that change the umd region code from 1 to 2, if the umd code is part of the firmware.

i want to know because it would be handy with umd movies coming out here soon and i wouldn't mind picking them up locally.

EDIT: I forgot that i had spider-man 2 somewhere and that seems to work fine on it. :/

what the deal with the different firmware versions?

what version gives you what ?

It doesn't change the region, nor does it swap the mapping of X and O for cancelling and confirming options.
