Connecting HD cables of X360 to normal TV?

Sorry, I had to steal this thread from another forum cuz.....its a good question and the other forum (gamespot) is full of idiots, and people here know what their talking about.

They say that you can use the cables with the premium pack (of the 360) on a normal tv, if so what do ye do?

Thats apparantly the wire. I basically use the AV (red, white and yellow cables?) of the Tv? So....... is it possible or is it just rubbish to help reassure people buying the 360 with normal Tvs.

Is it possible to mix and match?

Yep you can use the cable on a conventional TV. The "yellow" cable is composite video. Piss poor quality but it'll work.

Do you use the composite cables that come in the box with your Xbox right now?

If so, it will be exactly the same sort of image quality - rubbish.

          Oh right.

I used to use them, untill they broke (or everything went black and white) so I bought a new AV wire and when I used that everything looked much better.

Which one did you buy though?

If you bought an RGB scart cable (ie a proper scart cable, not the 3 composite connections plugged into a scart adaptor) you would see an improvement, however you'll need to buy an RGB lead for the 360 if you want a decent connection!

you'd be better off buying a rgb scart lead otherwise the lead is useless unless you have a projector or plasma/lcd screen

Yeah i know the feeling,Microsoft should really package the advanced Scart RGB cable instead of a HDTV cable, because frankly speaking a very tiny percentage of the population will have HDTV sets anyway? Looks like Microsoft are crap at doing their research, but they would love us all to buy the Premium option and of course as your right to say, shell out another ?20-?30 on an RGB cable!
