Tried to do a wireless link with my mate yesterday on Ridge and Tony Hawks. I own a Japanese version of Ridge and a US Tony Hawks and my mate has UK versions. The wi fi did not recognise the other machines no matter which combination of host we used. Even tried the foreign games in a UK machine to link the other UK one and no joy. Why are they not compatible for link up? I know x box has this problem but if the games are multi region it makes sense to make the wi fi global standard!

It's all down to the games. Like with the GBA, some games are compatible across regions but others are not, and it's very rare for a Japanese game to link up with an English-language one. There shouldn't be any compatibility problems with the machines themselves since they're both just 802.11b.

Games shouldn't have to be from the same region to be wirelessy compatable, but thats only if the game developers don't tinker with the multiplayer stuff between region releases. From what i gather, because of the big gaps between region releases, launch titles had plenty of tweaking between regions, which shouldn't be the case in the future.
