Free internet Radio Station set up help please

My Daughter and some friends want to set up a (free) internet radio station, just purely chat, no ripped music or anything, preferably with free software from free webspace, anyone know if this sort of thing be done easily ? no real joy with google or download.com, any help appreciated.

For that sort of thing why not just get them to record podcasts. That way they can just be hosted on ISP webspace and linked to via a very simple homepage.

If they want other people (their friends?) to listen in live, maybe the best bet is to download and run shoutcast server on the same machine, and host it from there. If it's only very small listener numbers (a couple of friends) the bandwidth wouldn't be an issue at say 32Kbps, which sounds fine for chat. Couple that with something like a dyndns dynamic domain name for them to give their friends (save remembering IPs - get something like daughtersname.kicks-ass.net) and it's pretty easy.
