New memory stick hanging computer

I just bought a Sandisk 1gb Pro Duo card, and I am having some problems with it.

My PSP sees it, and can format it, and can save to it, but as soon as I connect it to my Mac (via card reader), its a dead card. You can't see any of the files/folders the PSP has made, you can't rename it, and you can't copy anything to the memory stick. You can't eject it either, it says its in use. My two other memory sticks work fine on my computer.

Anybody had issues like this before?

If I use PSP as the card reader, it works fine on my computer. However other cards can be read from my reader without issues. Perhaps my reader doesn't like 1gb cards?
