how do i connect to my xbox via ftp?

i have the xbox connected to my laptop via ethernet cable, and have an ftp program open, but now what do i do?

D'you know the ip of the X-Box? Enter this in the ftp program and you should just connect.
I had trouble with mine first of all as the two ip's were not in the same 'range',so i changed the X-Box one to 10.0.0.20,as my mac is 10.0.0.3,and it worked.

which ftp program do you use?

Its mac only im afraid mate,Transmit. Dont know a pc equivalent. There have been a few threads on it here so try a search.

I use Smart FTP.

You need to enter the username and password for it as xbox and xbox too.

It's really very simple to do and even a muppet can manage (I did after all!). It also includes a link that'll let you download a trial version of Flash FXP which is a nice ftp prog.

Also gives you an idea of what type of cable you'll need in case you're unsure.

You can use Internet Explorer, too. The username and password for XBoxes is usually 'xbox', so type the address as

ftp://xbox:xbox@whatevertheIPis

The XBox's IP should show up on your dashboard if it's modded.

thanks alot for the help guys. i was using a standard ethernet cable, but tom-nooks site told me i needed a crossover (silly me!).

ok so i ordered a crossover cable, but never arrived, so i bought a wireless router.

now the xbox is connected to the wireless router (via ethernet) and the router connected to my laptop (wireless).

now i try to connect to the xbox using flashfxp, but it doesnt work.

can someone whos done this give me a step by step method on making it work?

ok so i just tried it again now, it connects but then says

'425 cant open data connection'
'list error'

whats happening?
