ebay - credit card verification

I registered with paypal 3 months back, and they never asked me to verify if anything was deposited/charged. Though I registered a debit card, not sure if that makes a difference or not.

with paypal what do people use i have it setup with my bank account and a credit card to choose between

Update - so I sent ebay an email about this and they replied.... all this that happened is legit.

Here's the reply i got:

contacting me about the message you received when trying to send an
email to other members via the eBay email forwarding system.

The message you received was a result of two recent changes that have
been made to the Contact eBay Member feature. To best protect and
safeguard our members, these changes have been made in an effort to help

a transaction in common, and Buyers and Sellers will continue to have
direct access to each other's email addresses when they make a

"Contact eBay Member" features for purchasing items away from eBay are
risky and against eBay policy. Members that accept these unsolicited
email offers will not be able to take advantage of eBay's protection

These changes have been made with the intent to make eBay an even safer
place for you to buy and sell.
