    Repairing/replacing a Saturn spindle

    Hi

I've got a modded Sega Saturn sitting in front of me here, but I can't get a game CD to sit properly on the spindle -- it doesn't want to go below the 3 bearings, but just bounces off. The spindle itself also feels a bit stiff, and doesn't rotate as freely (when the power is off) as my unmodded Saturn.

So my question is this: is it easy to swap the spindles from one Saturn to another? Has anyone here done it? I've disassembled my unmodded unit but can't seem to get the spindle free.

    Cheers.

OK, sorted it. The top of the spindle just pops off, but can also be pushed down too far -- that was what had happened in this case. I've readjusted it and the spindle now works fine.

The problem now is getting games to load. When I turn the power on with a game disc in the drive, it just comes up with the options screen, whether the game is legal or backup.

    Any suggestions?

It's cause you've got a region selector, 50/60 and modchip in the same machine.

I'l pm ya and explain the settings clearer
