Need help with kaido battle 2

I've played this for a few days now and can't seem to progress to the better cars and tracks.

I bought a toyota scarlet and have completed all the first races but no new races have appeared. The only race I have not done is the cup one, but the car is not good enough to complete it, and there are no better cars available to buy. The toyota, I think is maxxed out.

Nothing new seems to be happening!

Have you been doing the night races as well? Been a while since I played the game, but I think new areas/courses open up after you defeat a certain amount of rival cars.
