Can't you just phone up his work? I am sure I wouldn't want someone phoning up and saying I had ripped them off, if you phone up and don't sound too weird or angry they might just put you through to him.

Where do you live in relation to Nottingham? It's a bit risky turning up alone, take some mates, and don't let him trick you into anything at the door, otherwise you could end up in a dangerous situation.

        What a tough call!

For ?120 I must admit I personally wouldn't risk turning up at his door. The problem is that this may scare him, and scared people can do some really odd things! Turning up in numbers is a clear and deliberate threat.

I would do a simple "Small claims" court action. Provide the bank/emails/PM's evidence and send it off to them. If you have a known address for him, then you're sorted. No-one wants a CCJ, and this is the correct, and legal way to approach the subject.

Bad traders are a disaster for us all, so please do follow this up. If people know that bad trades will be followed by the small claims court, then they will think twice about ripping us off.

Also as a general rule, anything over ?20, and you want to see some good feedback. In some ways the best feedback is when things haven't gone to plan, and how the seller has reacted. It happend to me not so long ago, and it's extremly embarrising, but for good honest people no problem to address. (Read compensate) We must also accept that stuff can go missing or get damaged in the post, no matter how hard we try and protect them.

Good luck getting your ?120, don't risk personal injury or a police record for getting it back.

        Best

I would want to batter the bloke, personally - but think about it - if you turned up and threatened someone or there was some sort of a fracas leading to him making a complaint to the Police, he could point the Old Bill in the direction of NTSC-UK where his proposed doorstep hiding has been discussed in depth by all manner of forum-ites!

Let it run its course (i.e give it another week or two) and then decide what to do. Contacting his work is a good idea, and you could visit his address - but bear in mind that if he is deliberately avoiding you, then he is very probably reading this forum too.

Totally sympathise with your situation, but reckon this thread should be locked or edited for the above reasons.

first step i think is to make a polite phone call to his work to enquire after him, you never know he might have just had a accident or something like that and have other things on his mind than going online - if he's been reading PMs or whatever or his online time has changed i guess that's a different matter

I don't see why anyone would scam for just ?120, Surely he'd be pimping several PSPs and stuff if he had turned to the dark side

Write him a letter mate, explain that you obviously know where he lives and you want what's yours. Personally I'd be round there in a shot but that's probably not the best idea so thinking about it rationally, write him a letter and get on to that small claims thing.

Failing that petrol bomb his house and pillage that ****.

This whole thread has got me thinking, and that doesn't happen often.

Might it be an idea that the mods hold a database of forum users address' and phone numbers. I've done hundreds of trades on here and ive never had a problem giving my address to someone, and likewise people giving me thiers. If your not in the rip off business then whats the problem,as touchwood its only ever needed for sending and receiving little bundles of joy.(see Videogames).
As i'm sure you all know i got stung on here and i even met the bloke in Hampstead, and had his mobile number.
It infuriates me to think I deleted that PM!

In cases such as mine it would be extremely helpful if someone else had that number. A mod could even give a warning to the offender that they needed to reply within a week or thier phone number would be given out. Second warning = address.

In an ideal world and perfectly running forum (by the users, not the mods,as they are simply wonderful) the database would never be needed or touched, but in the extremely rare occasion it's information is needed it would be an absolute godsend, and may even persuade future offenders not to.

                    Your thoughts gentlemen?

                    Viva la revolution! etc....

Not something we can do due to the data protection act.

Seemed like a good idea if i say so myself.

Why would anyone wanting to rip people off on the forum give us genuine contact details anyway?

You can read the act here if you really want to.

Well i thought that as soon as you entered and completed a succesful trade your details could go in,as MD and jethro jazz were both once honourable.

And these would be the correct details. I guess the answer to my idea is just for everyone to never delete any pm's which have address' and mobile numbers in.

I know the forum is bound but i and plenty others i bet would have no trouble handing over an address to a regular face of someone who had ripped them off.
