    Problems with my newly-modded Xbox

Well, Saurian modded my Xbox yesterday, but I'm having some trouble with it. I make the Xbox iso files, then burn them with Nero, following all instructions, yet the machine can't read any of the disks...

The mod seems to be done ok, as the blue logo comes up, but this is really pissing me off. The main thing I want is Evo-X for now (But I have also tried Frodo), but it just wont recognise them at all.

    Either I'm doing something wrong, or it's the disks I'm using. I'm using Philips CD-R 80 (42x). Should I be using a CD-RW?

    Thanks in advance.

make sure your xbox can actually read the cdr's by putting normal audio tracks on a cd and seeing if the xbox will play it, also don't burn at 48x burn at a slower speed like 8x. burn the cd in udf format and if nero doesn't work then use a program called prassi primo dvd, its far better imo

Ah, looking at Saurian's site, it seems it does only support CD RW. Weird, I assumed it would be able to read both. Guess I just need some new disks.

      Hmm.

Try using CD-RW, or if you can, DVD's. A lot of Xbox's cant read CDR media due to their disc drives. There are models out there that can however, but I'm not the person to ask about this.

Saurian would probably be your man to ask about the technical details of an Xbox.

        Hope I've helped.

Yup, as the others said, you have to use CD-RW or DVD-R/RW...

Or you could just get a crossover cable and connect your PC to your X-Box (mod permitting)... Then you'll save loads of time and money if you want to transfer files across!

Are you burning them the right way? Are you using XISO to make the images so they are burnt the Xbox way?

Yeah, I am burning them with XISO. But do they have to be named anything specific, or is it just anything.iso?

                convert with the latest xiso

then burn at the slowest speed possible via nero and onto a good brand cdrw (memorex seem to be the best bet)

if it still won't read the cdr - try powering on and off the xbox with the disc inserted - might take a few goes but it should read in at least once (once is all you need for evox - after thats installed you can ftp anything else to your xbox)

Works fine now, with CD-RW. 8)
