After reading the Edge review of Far Cry Instincts, I decided I'd reinstall the original... only I can't, because for some reason I get this ****:

1607: Unable to install installshield scripting runtime

Eh? Can anyone shed any light on this?

I tried both fixes there, the first one (Update ISS script) wouldn't install (Error 1500: Another instalation is in progress...!)

The second seems to apply to a folder tab that I don't seem to have on my instalation folder (Security).

What's wierd is that I've installed this game before on this very PC with no issue... I regularly run spyware and virus checks, yet now it's f**ked...

try this then goto program files/windows installer cleanup

run msicuu.exe and remove any other far cry relatated things lurking about

I actually managed to fix it! Both posts helped so thanks a lot!

I forgot I'd got a new graphics card since last playing this, so it was a nice suprise maxing out the settings!

now to shoot more marines in the face!
