    Sony HTK-25 speaker wire - built-in?

I'm planning on buying the Sony HTK-25 surround sound system, but I wanted to lay the rear speaker wires under a new floor that we're getting installed. But it won't be delievered untill after the floor is put down. So would I be able to buy some speaker wire, lay that undeer the floor and substitute the rear speaker wires that come with the HTK-25? Or are the wires built into the speakers? And are their any issues with laying speaker wire under a laminate floor? Finally, can anyone recommend a good speaker wire that's readily availible in places like Richer Sounds or any other highstreet-type shop, preferably for around ?1 a metre?

even if it is built in you could snip the end and join them.

consider ring mains as it is a solid core and calms bright systems down a bit.

the best demonstration I have ever had was when I was visting Arcam a few years ago, they used to distribute Audiquest then, and they set up a sytem in there demo room with around ?8k of kit and played it with a 5 star best selling bi-wire cable that was muli stranded [cough]cable talk 4.1 bi-wire[/cough] and it sounded really good.

they then changed the cable over and asked which was prefered, the second cable was alot smooter and easier to listen to and the rasps of breathe from van morrison could be heard where as t was lost on the first cable.

The cable was twin ring mains at ?0.28p a metre

the reason they did this was to demonstrate the improvements gained by using a one solid cable to carry the signal rather than sending it along 80+ different wires.

they had also made interconnects from the cable too.

I am now a convert, in my hi-fi sytem I have fairly expensive speaker cable and interconnects (solid), but in my home cinema sytem I have ring mains and it is pretty damned good replaced some silver aniversary cable with it and it is far better.

Let me get this right... you're using mains cable? As used in the electric circuit of a house?!?

        What size cable?

I got some 10 mil hanging about I used to install a 9kW shower. Or will 6mm (iirc) the stuff you use on the ring main do?
