Any recommendations for wireless adsl modem/routers for home use? i was using a netgear DG824M. it was easy to set up but i had some problems with its firewall plus it needed reseting after downloading 250MB. i will only have two computers connected to it but both wirelessly. any suggestions?

had a look at the netgear forums about this product. its being absolutely killed. ppl saying that theyve had to replace it 2-3 times due to the whole modem dying. Is it still workin for you? i have to say i love th netgear setup but im not sure about its reliability? anyone else got this model?

what handshandy said basically. The netgear834G is the mutts nutts, both in 108MB and 54MB versions.
I've never reset mine in 8 months of use and generally d/l about 30GB per month. Only problem I had was when my software firewall started blocking everything - turned off Norton, tested OK, turned Norton back on - worked perfectly again.

I went for the 3Com cos all my friends and Father had one and had never had to go near them and I could only find poor reviews of the netgear. It's worked flawlessly for me since installation, although there was some initial weirdness solved by not using the "default channel", although if I'd read the manual, it said "advise you do not use the default channel"..... heheh.
It came with a free wireless usb dongle as well, which I have tested but not used because my laptops have wireless built in and the desktop I connect with a wire.
It's 54thingemebobs rather than the 108 of the netgear.
Port forwarding is a doddle.
Wireless security setup is pretty easy.
It works out in the garden (through 2 walls).
linky
If you get one (applies to all of them really) upgrade the firmware straight away before setting anything up.
