    Shakey scart picture,HELP!

I've got a 28inch panasonic and there's this constant shaking/flickering going on at the top of the screen every time i connect any of my scarts.I've checked to make sure the cables in properly, but no joy.My previous TV gave out a perfect,crisp,bleed-free picture but this TV's giving me trouble.Anybody got any idea's??

Also i have three AV channel's,but how do i make use of the third one? the first scart connection is AV1 and the second is AV2/AV2S,but AV3 is free but i don't know how to use it.Plus is AV1 supposed to work properly with scart's,'cause every time i run a scart through it,the color's all yellow tinted.Crystal clear picture with no shaking or bleeding but the picture's yellow...fixable?

Sorry,i'm just not that great with TV's.

SCART is a total bitch that should have been shot at birth, pardon my French.

I'm going to hazard a guess that it has something to do with interference from the TV's tuner, seeing as SCART is a bidirectional standard. You can open up the cables and cut the pins that deal with this kind of thing, or buy ones that didn't have the pins attached in the first place. That could well solve the problem.

Are you connecting the Xbox directly to the TV. I have found that with some cables they do not like an indirect connection.

Is it the official Xbox RGB lead?

It sounds like your television is fauty; contact Panasonic or the place you bought it from.

Does the TV play OK with other RGB Scart signals (such as a DVD player)?

Bassman: Yup i'm connecting the cable directly to my TV.It's not the official xbox scart cable it's a Logic3 scart with a AV run off block so i can hook up my sound system to it.Don't worry,it's defintely an RGB scart cable 'cause i've been using it for the past 2 years on my old TV,and i've had nothing less than a perfect picture from it.But i did test my gamecube's Logic3 scart and my official PS2 scart cable and they all displayed a yellow tint, including the dvd player!

andrewfee:I sent panasonic an email last night to see if they might be able to help me.Only problem is that i don't know the model number as this is a 5-6 year old TV and the user manual has gone walkabout too.Hmmmmmm.

Wierd thing happened last night though. After reading through some of the threads on here, somebody mentioned trying to alter the tint on the TV to see if that works. That's it,i thought.Go my TV and start flicking the setting's and discover that tint is no longer available! even though i was fiddling with it earlier that day with other channel's.But it's just vanished,be it on TV channels or AV channels,it just does'nt exist!

As far as I know, TINT is only an option when the TV is recieving an NTSC video feed. TINT will not be available on a PAL feed. Sorry to say it sounds like you TV is jiggered

i have to agree.I've tried moving the TV around my room, and moving metal objects away from it,thinking that certain things could be causing a magnetic distortion but nothing has seemed to work.As this tv was my mum's for years, she told me today that the unit was dropped once when my brother was shifting it.Think that could have something to do with it?

*SIGH* It's new TV time methink's.I'm not putting up with a composite picture, noooooooo.I won't even play on my machines until i get a new tele'.After witnessing the clarity of RGB scart for so many years, you just can't go back.It makes games like Ninja Gaiden and RE4 look horrid and thats a hard thing to do!

Oh and your right jason, about the tint.I whacked my US xbox on and ta-da,the tint selection is back! did'nt alter the picture for **** though

Well in my experience, problems with RGB SCART usually start with the +5 voltage on pin 8. This pin on the SCART cable tells your set to turn to the appropriate AV channel and change to widescreen (if applicable) automatically whenever you turn the device on.

Unscrew the the SCART plug and disconnect pin 8 (if you have to cut it, make sure you can reattach it later). Make sure you mask off the end of the wire so it doesn't short any other pins.

The disadvantages with removing pin 8 are that you will no longer have the automatic switching functionality and will have to manually change to the appropriate AV channel. The second disadvantage (and ultimately the deciding factor weither you should do this or not) is automatic RGB switching. Some TV's do not have a manual setting for RGB. When it receives the voltage on pin 8, it not only switches to the appropriate AV input, but also enables RGB. If your set has no options to change SCART from composite to RGB, or S-Video etc, then when you remove pin 8, the set will switch to composite only. Without a way to manually force RGB, then that cable will be only good for composite following the cut.
