    Buggered an X-Box!

I've messed around with a friends X-Box and now keep getting the number 13 error code.(unable to launch dash).

I connected to it originally and deleted the folders and files on it as it was really confusing, hoping to put the ones from my X-Box on it. Now it seems i've ****ed it.

    I have the EVO-X disc,inserted it and selected "create D E F X Y Z and Format",and still the same.

    Yikes.

Should i tell my friend i got mugged by a group of teenagers?

You should get a copy of Slayer Auto Installer 2.1. You can erase his stuff & just load on the required dash, Apps and Emu's etc.
Nick, I don't need that trial now - I didn't realise the out of date ones still work! Cheers mate.

Error 13 means that the Xbox can't find a suitable dashboard to load. (Missing or corrupt dash files, for example.)
You can either use the Slayers Install disc to format the drive and set it all up again automatically (choose the "rebuild" option, I think) or else, if you have access to another modded Xbox, you can copy the data off the C and E partitions on the working Xbox, then put it onto the messed-up Xbox.

            Cheers mate.

Is the slayers disc the same as the EvoX disc,as that is the one i have i think. Got Config Magic and some others on it?

Could be the same disc - the Slayers screen looks like this:

If the hard drive is still locked, then you will not be able to write C: drive back to the disc. You need to unlock the drive first, then copy C and E drives back, then lock again. Not sure if Slayers does this automatically for you?, but if you were doing it manually, then you would need to unlock. I got into this situation a week ago and was wondering why I was able to format the drive but then not able to write back to it.

So far so good. Created partitions, installed MS dash on C. It now turns on but goes straight to the MS dash, not showing any signs of being modded.

There is no external switch on this one,and it isnt of the type (like mine) where turning on with the eject button activates the switch, and the power button normal operation (or vice versa).

Farenheit, thanks for the help but your last post confuses me a bit (sorry). Could you elaborate a little bit on copying the drives over?

ok looks like you reloaded the ms dash only, try one of the other options on your slayers disc - should say something along the lines of "install Evox and Apps"

Dont have that option. Any idea where it could be?

Mine is not actually a Slayers disc. Think its very similar, its from www.xbox-mod.co.uk.

                        Hi Nick,

I'm assuming this is the disc I sent you a while back? If it is, it's a recovery disc to help get your Xbox back to (more or less) an unmodded state when things go badly wrong with an upgrade:

                        http://www.xbox-mod.co.uk/index.php?page=recoverydisk

If you wanted to add Evo X etc. you'd need their installation disc (unless one of the guys on the boards can provide you with a Slayer's disc?):

I used to have a copy and it works a treat. Unfortunately I no longer have it or I would've sent it to you

                        Good luck!

                          Thanks Mark.

Much appreciated. Its not your old X-Box by the way,its another friends who said i could have a go at tidying it up for him as the way it was laid out was a proper headache to navigate.

                          I did warn him......

Is there anyway i could get the apps off my X-Box to put on this new one?

                            No worries Nick.

I'd have suggest ftp'ing the stuff from your own Xbox to the new one, but not really sure you can do this without having the EvoX dash installed (bit of a catch 22)......

I'm sure that one of the guys on the boards will be able to give you a definitive answer though!

I dont have the slayers disc any more but I do have an Evox installer that should get you up and running. Pm you details and I`ll pop a copy in the post for you.

it has the install evox and apps / restore ms dash option
