XBox problems . Think my Hard Drive is screwed.

Oh no , What a time for the XBox to play up , what with FarCry and everything.

Right, My Xbox powers up fine and I can still eject and open the DVD draw. Just my HardDrive is making funny clicking Funny clicking noise , and after a while I get that Error message 'Please phone M$ as your Xbox needs service'.

Funny thing is sometimes it works fine with no problems Then another time, I get that clicking noise and then the Xbox ****s up.

Anybody If I can fix the HD, or failing that.
I have spare US Hard Drive. Would I be able to swap, and replace it for the broken one , with out getting banned from LIVE ? .
Really don?t want to buy another X-Box at this stage, with the 360 right around the corner

    Cheers for any help guys

it needs service? what is it a car?!

dont change the harddrive if youve already been on live. irrc they keep a record of what your hdd serial number (or something else) is and if its changed youll get banned.

I was getting the same 'clicking' noise / error message with one of my modded Xboxes (that had a larger hdd fitted). I'm pretty sure that your hard drive has given up the ghost mate.

I still had the original hdd so fitted it back into the Xbox and it then booted fine.

I'm not sure if there is really any way to fix the hdd, so your only option may be to replace it. As hasanhadi says the downside is that you'd then be banned from live.
