    TFT Gaming advice

    Guys

Ive got the chance of a 19" tft and its my first one and im unsure of knowing how well it will perform with games

Response time is that what i should be looking at? Whats the ideal realistic value? I think the one im looking at is 20ms

and the Dot Pitch / Pixel Pitch is 0.294 mm

Its an acer as well anyone think this should be up to the task?

    I don't know about the dot-pitch thingy...
...but I was once told that a response time of 16ms or less is good for gaming.
I have a BenQ 19" TFT and it has 8ms ... needless to say: I have no ghosting what-so-ever during my games.

    EDIT:
Link to my TFT :: http://www.benq.nl/products/LCD/?pro...specifications
..it seems to have a pixel-pitch of 0,294 mm.

I would steer clear of anything more than 16ms, that's what I use - But to be honest, I have had mine for 18 months or so, and were I to buy a new one, I wouldn't go over 12ms - You get what you pay for.

Aslo does it have a DVI connection? or does it just have analogue?

Just an analogue connector, im thinking 20 isnt that bad a response time

plus its also really cheap, its a sale item and is only like 130 quid

Its definately worth getting a tft with a decent response time.

It may seem like a good deal, but it'll piss you off no end when your web browsing is blurry when you scroll down the page along with ghosting in games.

My main 17" TFT has a 16ms response time and I notice no ghosting in BF2. I do notice ghosting moving windows and their contents about - but only if I look for it.

I also use a 15" TFT with a 20ms response time and I don't notice/get annoyed with any ghosting in games. Ghosting in Windows, again, is only present when I look for it...

It all depends on you and the amount of money in your pocket in the the end...

but would i get ghosting with 20ms?

Everywhere im checking is saying that this is the max response to accept

surely if things are running at what 30fps then thats 1 frame per 40ms? so i could cope with anything up to 60fps comfortably? or ???

ta for the advice so far btw guys

Ah didnt see ur post b4 i went into post screen

THanks m8 that sounds pretty good then, i reckon if its only hard core nutters who would notice a major diff then im going to just buy it

if it works out pants i can always just stick it on ebay for a profit as the same monitors going for nearly 200 there

20ms is definately too slow. You will notice pretty serious ghosting even when just moving your mouse pointer around.

I wouldn't accept less than 12ms now, and there are many panels about which do much lower than that...

ah but are we talking about things a normal guy would notice

i understand that a lot of the guys on here are a bit hardcore with gaming and things, i really just wanna make sure that 20ms wont give me anything that i would notice through normal "more interested in game than staring at gfx" kinda way

a normal guy will notice 20ms response time believe me. the ones at uni are ****ing horrible, the whole page becomes a blur when scrolling down a web page. if you want to use if for games, then 20ms is too much, its as simple as that.
