Sonic Gems Collection - anyone got ??

Well i quite like sonic r and sonic cd.Sonic arcade is quite a fun fighting game.

The game gear games i am not that keen on.At the moment i am really just playing so i can unlock vector man and bare knuckle

dont know if bare knuckle is in the pal version though

The thread in Headlines turned into a First Play topic of sorts.

From what I have read, the PAL version has no 60Hz mode, the US soundtrack for Sonic CD (rather than the JPN one that was originally on Mega CD over here) and does not have Bare Knuckle 1-3 and Bonanza Bros which are on the JPN version of Gems.

I got it - cheers. But annoyed if the music thing is true in Sonic CD (That sound track was pretty cool)....Anyways. Shall play later to find out. Cheers fellas

PAL version is crap.

I waited out for the PAL version in the misguided hope that it would actually be pretty decent.

First off no 60hz mode. This used to be a given with Sega games (Sonic Mega Collection for GC 2 years ago had it). I guess the lack of the option in Sonic Mega Collection Plus earlier this year should have been a warning.

The Sonic CD soundtrack is baffling. The European version had the Japanese music so why does this collection give us the US soundtrack? My only thought is that the version on this disc is based on the PC version (not the Mega CD one) and I believe the PC version over here did have the US Soundtrack.

Finally, the lack of the SOR games.

Mine got returned the day after and as soon as I?ve got some money I?ll be getting the JPN version. Far, far superior.

Japanese version is expensive to import but it'll be worth it.

I too will be importing, just need to find a cheap place that isn't YesAsia...

I'll get the Japanese one now I have a modded Cube. Not even a 60hz mode? Ow. I'm guessing like Mega Collection, the US/Japanese ones don't have 480p?

The PAL PS2 version is pretty balls, for the reasons the above posts state.

But the PS2 game itself is identical to the GameCube game, no differences in performance or anything. The GameCube game does have the advantage of 480p though (on the NTSC versions at least).
