I have been given the Slayers install disk - tried to install on my Xecutor 1.1 machine. It goes through the usual copying, says done - but upon reboot the EVOx dashboard is not displayed, it just boots to the MS dashboard as normal. Is there anything else I should be doing? Should I lose the 1.1 and install an Xecutor 2 instead?

If the Xbox Boots the M$ Dashboard instead of the EvoX Dashboard
after a "rebuild" then your bios does not support starting from
"evoxdash.xbe" and defaults to "xboxdash.xbe". You must upgrade
your BIOS to X2-4972 or EvoX 3.6 or newer!

I'm useless with the PC side of things >_< - I'll have to beg The One Like Papercut to help me out!

I have put the help text onto some webspace so you dont have to download the whole 100meg of the slayers install.
This will probably tell you what the problem is mate

the problem is easy - the version of the xecuter bios is searching for xboxdash and won't recognise evoxdash
what you need to do is (must be done in this order btw):- install the evox disc in your xbox, boot it up then connect to your xbox from your pc via ftp.
- open C drive on your xbox
- transfer 3 files to your pc - evoxdash.xbe and xboxdash.xbe and evox.ini
- rename xboxdash to msxboxdash
- rename evoxdash to xboxdash
- open the ini file and scroll down till you see these 2 lines
#AudioPlayer = "c:\xboxdash.xbe"
MSDashBoard = "c:\xboxdash.xbe"
you then change them to
#AudioPlayer = "c:\msxboxdash.xbe"
MSDashBoard = "c:\msxboxdash.xbe" - save the ini file then transfer all 3 back to the xbox C drive
- reboot xbox
- enjoy
hope that helps

The Slayer install disk expects the mod chip bios to try and boot 'evoxdash.xbe' from the root of the C drive if it exists. Normally a bios (mod chip or official) will try and boot a file called 'xboxdash.xbe' from the C drive root instead.
So you can either flash a new bios image to your mod chip, or just rename the files. Normally you'd rename the ms dash something like 'msdash.xbe' and the evox dash 'xboxdash.xbe'.
If you rename the files you also need to remember to enter the right filename for the ms version in the evox.ini config file (also in the root of the C drive).

I might have a network card you can have too. I need to make sure it actually works first though.
I'd be glad to help, pm me
