    PS2 laser problem

I've got a problem with my silver PS2, with reading discs (PS2 and PSOne). The laser seems to be working, the disc is spinning and I've tried cleaning the lens.

    Can anyone assist?

It's a sign that the laser may be on its last legs. I'd suggest getting a new one fitted.

yup. get someone to adjust it - it gives it more power but lessens it's expected life. however in your case, less life is better than none at all, and the fact that it plays dvd discs fine means it's not out yet, just needs a kick up the butt.

it's free (just involves turning a tiny screw a bit) and you've got nothing to lose. if that fails, get a new one fitted as jpred88 said

it would be better to fit a new drive as adjusting the pots on the lens doesn't usually work for definate

but it's free, that's the point

if it doesn't work, then by all means, swap the laser, or even the whole drive. i adjust pots all the time and i've had no problems - i did it with my v5 ps2 a few years ago and it's still going even now, whereas it started playing up at that time
