      No advantage, a slight disadvantage.

But if you've already got a US or Japanese machine and don't fancy buying another PAL one then it's fair enough.

They don't play them at all. You get a message about it being an incompatible system.

Japanese PS2's will play UK DVD's (UK is PAL Region 2 and Japan is NTSC Region 2). Asian PS2's (they play Japanese games) are NTSC Region 3 and American PS2's are NTSC Region 1.

have you tried a uk dvd in a us/jap machine? there's something about the buffer size being smaller which causes playback problems:

Nah not yet, Shakey_Jake33 very kindly sorted the hack out for me and i'm running that at the moment, it's running o.k but seems glitchy with a few games and other won't work at all. I'm still tempted to get it modded, so i can then use any game without a problem.

Had a quote for fitting inc chip and it's about ?65, really like the midnight blue becuase it has the hdd and network adapter inc and it's a cool colour.

Any idea what it would be worth if i sold it unchipped?

More than when chipped I would imagine.

                          try this site

This website is for sale! ps2hd.com is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, ps2hd.com has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

type in the name of any game you're having trouble with and see if you need to set any of the compatibility modes (go to the game name in the list and press select then turn on/off whatever modes). keep an eye out for the icon as that's the hdloader you have on your machine. if a game has a big red number over the icon that tells you what mode you need to turn on.

btw as you have the latest patched one, you'll notice you have about 8 compatibility modes, not 3. the first three on the list are 1,2 and 3 (slow hdd access, disable dvd9 support, then kill hdloader)

How do you swap between the different modes on the hdd loader on the ps2. I've seen the different models when i used the loader on the pc.

Press select when the cursor is on the game in question within HDloader.
