    Which RGB cable??

I have a US PS2 modded with the Infinity chip 2.0.

I've just bought this Joytech RGB lead to make it work through my UK TV's Scart socket:

It displays a pinkish picture on all games both NTSC and PAL. Movies too.

The PS2 is set to RGB. I presume it's the cables fault as I've never had problems running NTSC games on this TV before.

If this cable is no good what's a reasonably priced alternative?

Even the Blaze cable looks poor when used on an LCD or Plasma set, though it's probably sufficient for CRT.

I've always firmly believed that straying from official cables is a false economy.

Is there an official rgb cable?

          It's a long term, one-off investment.

Of a third of the price of the console. Which is being replaced next year by one with a different video port.

Depends if you'd see yourself using it long term then. A decision for the user.
It's good for me, as my PS2 is modded, and I don't intend to do the same with the PS3. But if a person can't see themselves using it long term, then maybe it's not worth it.

My point really does still stand though, your paying for the quality and your getting it.

Try lik-sang, they do most RGB cables for under a fiver and will probably supply you one that's compatible with what you have.
Have bought Saturn, PS1 (which works with PS2) and spare SNES cables from them, they arrive within a week and the picture is great.

What I don't understand is why this Joytech RGB cable doesn't work? It seems to be no different from the ones everyone's recommending?

It has RGB CABLE emblazoned on the packet. If it isn't then can I get my money back?

Defintly 100% get the Official PS2 Cable.

I got mine for ?17 off a forum user, came with packaging and everything.

The difference between composite and RGB is stunning on 60hz mode.

Lots of third-party SCART cables that say RGB on the box are actually lying. When the GC came out the only cable that supported RGB was the official one because Nintendo changed the pinouts at the last minute, so the other ones only supported composite.
You'll find that generally third-party cables for anything need testing first before you can believe their claims.
Take yours back if it's not RGB, there should be no problem giving you a refund if the product doesn't function as advertised.
Go to lik-sang, seriously. RGB SCART cables for most consoles will cost you less than a fiver and they work.

same thing happened to me. I bought a venom 'rgb' scart cable. Some of them just lie.

Yup, same thing happened to me back in 2002.

Had a hell of a time trying to explain to the bloke in GAME that this wasn't an RGB cable as the quality was no different and you could watch DVDs in full colour rather than just the green channel (he seemed to think that this made the cable better than an RGB cable which did do RGB which you couldn't play DVDs with - agh!)

I then went to the local Indie and their whole batch of RGB branded cables were just composite ones as well.

I finally bought one with a "DVD/GAME" toggle switch on the connecter which has worked fine since - I then found out that the PS1 RGB cable I had bought years and years ago and forgotten about could have been used as well...

As a rule of thumb, if the cable has the "DVD/GAME" toggle - you're in business.
