How 'rare' is the Limited Edition ICO because...

My apartment was burgled, with a few PS2 games taken on Friday. I checked a certain 2nd hand games shop on Saturday, they had no copies of ICO. I checked yesterday, they have the cardboard, limited edition version WITH cards and manual, all in the great condition MINE was in.

I am pretty certain the game is old and rare enough for this not to be a coincidence, especially the cardboard version with cards and manual, in vgc. Thoughts?

Well, although im sorry to hear what happend to you, even if it is your ico, unless you can prove it, there's not much you can do about it im afraid.

Hmm difficult one that, coz if you didn't report the robbery you don't have much proof and if they only just got it recently then you can be fairly sure it's yours.
I think you may just have to bite the bullet and buy it back and work on the security of your place. Get a deadbolt installed and make sure no one else has a habit of leaving windows open.
Do you have contents insurance? If not, get it ASAP. My place is contents insured for 20 grand and it costs me less than 20 quid a month. Your price may be a little higher, depends if you have lockable windows, a dead bolt, entry phone, the area you live in, etc.

So if they only just got the game in (which they did), then it's probably mine?

I am convered by my insurance, so hopefully will get it back that way (Not neccessarily my old copy!) The stupid thing is, i live in a super secure building, and am on the top floor. I didn't have the alarm set due to lazyness ... but if people didn't hear them chopping my front door in half (+my neighbours), then my alarm probably wouldn't scare them off.

Don't admit that you didn't have the alarm on or you won't get insurance money. And if you do have the facility to get the alarm linked to the police station, do so. It's not expensive and is much better to pay a small amount of money a month than to get cleaned out and end up losing everything.

if the shop requires a membership to sell, maybe you could get the bastids name.

Yeh then get your boys and break his legs*, not that I advocate violence to sort things out, but I don't advocate burglary either unless... use one of the name and address web services to find his address, stake the place out to make sure it's his house and burgle him back, then sell all his **** to the same shop

              *serving suggestion

Ask them about both it and the other games you had nicked. If all of them came in together, it's at least worth mentioning to the police, though I doubt they'll care anyway. They certainly didn't when half of my brother's DVD collection (including a shedload of rarities) turned up.

Its odd that a copy of ico turned up in a local shop in the same condition as you had it in. He only took a few games and ico was one of them so he probably knew it was worth something. The only time ive seen ico in a local store was at blockbuster about a year ago for ?12. I obviously snapped it up. what other games were taken? anything of special interest?. Of couse all this could be a coincidence.

if the geezer traded it in for cash, then they have to take his name + address for legal reasons, but if e traded it in for credit, then they dont have to.

Well, yeah, it was Computer Exchange, and I know they are pretty strict with the ID checks. Unfortunately the police checked it out and that copy of ICO came in before my burglary

I was also hoping it got traded in with my other games, as some sort of proof it was my copy, but apparently it got traded in on its own as well.

The police have been so helpful with all this and i'm super grateful, the council tax suddenly seems worth every penny
