Email spam - what's the extra stuff?

Why is it that all my spam email has stuff like the below under the main message:

"thunderbird some petticoat may try grimace but may imperfect or ! committeewomen and some ama it's a lyon it a breathe oron schwab the.
conception see strung but some spin a be chromatic the in structural or be committal try a angie , but surgical butbut wolff on."

I think it's to try to get past spam filters.
Maybe people have it set up so certain keywords let the email through?

It reads like Dada-ist song lyrics.
I might try to write something to that, just for a laugh.

I clicked on something today that was spam - it made no sense whatsoever just like above - it turned out to be hardcore pornography with a "serial killer" theme. Nice - thanks for that.

            Cleary not working!
The new outlook spam filter rules are astonishing. I think I've had 2 emails go to junk incorrectly in the last month and hundreds of spam emails ALL go into junk. Similarly I've probably had 2 or 3 bits of junk in the same month that haven't been filtered.

i dont use outlook or anything like that but use webmail instead bt's email spam filters are really good and only have to check the bulk folder as its called and select an email and click not spam, for emails that aren't and in my mail box to select emails that are spam just click spam and it adds to the junk list

some old skool spam filters would check the email text against known spam mails detected from certain mail addresses that are designed to attract spam. By including a bunch of random words that is different for every recipient, there are no direct matches
