I cant save files to DVD.......

At the moment I am running Windows XP on my lap top.

I have a DVD +/- and dual layer re-writer.

When I load in a blank DVD+ or - RW disc and go to my computer screen the disc doesnt register and the drive is shown as empty.

If I put in a DVD Video I have no problems.

I have tried saving files through XP to DVD and it keeps giving me an error message.

I have no problems using CD-RW's.

The thing is when I got first got my PC I had no problems saving to DVD..

Anybody able to help please??????????????????

Are you using Nero? Maybe its set to CD mode and not DVD. On Nero Express there's a little drop down menu at the top, try setting that to DVD instead of CD.

I dont have Nero on my PC unfortunately. I am just using Windows to burn DVD's.

Windows does not have native support to burn DVD's - you need a third party tool - Such as Nero , or Roxio.
