    DS Sound Issue?

I am trying to work out if it is a console or game issue. On my Japanese copy of Feel the magic/kimishine, the sound is very distorted and jumpy when on a low setting - almost like the speakers have blown. Yet strangely seems fine on other games and on higher sound settings.

I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this? Was just a slight annoyance as I was playing the game on low sound setting in bed last night to keep the missus asleep but it was doing my head in!

Yeah I have a similar thing. I have an early US machine and it even sounds a bit distorted through headphones at a low sound level. Not really much help but it is a pain in the arse indeed...

I think this is an almost universal problem with NDS. Turn the volume slider up past a certain point and the 'scratchyness' disappears. It's definatley a hardware problem, not software.

Note: this seems to apply to NDS carts, not GBA carts...strange.

You could also use earphones with a slider for volume. That way you could have the superior sound quality and turn the volume down via the earphones to suit your needs.

I find the DS volume slider to be a right pain the in arse. It's like cracking a bloody safe trying to get the right volume level.

Aye, on the lowest audible setting it does crackle (on ZooKeeper)

I have a pair of pretty sensitive headphones that I use with my DS. I have to keep the volume slider on the machine down low in order to avoid blasting out my eardrums, and the crackle and distortion is evident when playing Ouendan or any other GBA game. Pushing the volume slider past about 33% resolves the problem, but is just on the edge of bring too loud for me.

Same thing happens with my graphite machine, too. Seems to be more noticable on some games more than others, though.
