    US PStwo help!

    Hi,

just about to order a US PStwo (slimline) but would like a couple of points confirming before I do:

    1) I believe that slimline models are multi-voltage, so is it sufficient to simply use a 'figure 8' lead in the UK or do I need a step down? If 'figure 8' is sufficient, will ANY lead do? (I have a spare fron a laptop)

    2) My TV supports RGB picture on my PAL Xbox and PAL Gamecube, but I have no idea whether or not it is NTSC compatible. If I use an RGB cable for the PStwo, I believe I should get a full quality colour picture, even if my TV ISN'T NTSC compatible. Is this correct or am I talking rubbish?

    3) Can I use PAL controllers/mem cards with this, or do I need region specific ones?

    Thanks in advance.

    1) I use a stepdown for my US slimline PS2, but have been led to believe a figure 8 lead will suffice. Don't blame me though if something happens... no doubt someone will confirm this information soon.

    2) Check if your television can run a PAL PS2 game in 60hz (it only outputs in NTSC mode). If the picture is black or white/scrolling/dead then it can't. Both Xbox and Gamecube output in PAL 60hz.

    3) Yes, you can use any memory card/controller.

      1) yes the lead from your old ps2 etc will work as the psu can do 110-240v

      2) use an rgb lead, if your xbox works on 60hz it should be fine

      3)any work

Xbox outputs at PAL 60hz. It might not be fine for NTSC.

yeah but i was meaning if the tv can work with 60hz from the xbox, all would be needed was an rgb lead surely ?

The television before my last one (going back a bit now) would only display a PS2 NTSC signal in black and white, and that was through its RGB lead.

It depends on what the television can accept, though RGB does usually solve most worries if a set is modern enough (last ten years).

Couldn't have been a proper RGB cable then. I've tested the Blaze one I have on a TV that I know doesn't support NTSC but does support 60Hz and I got a perfect picture.

Evidently so. Just tried my current RGB PS2 cable (official) on the old television in question and it's running my US PS2 in colour.

My old RGB from years ago was third-party.

Excellent guys thanks very much for your input. Seems I should be ok with a figure 8 lead and RGB cable. SotC here I come!
