    Another megadrive 2 question

Hi all, just picked up a pal md2 and want to know what my options are regarding playing genesis/jpn carts on it?
I know they can be modded and switched etc but if i keep it bog standard how can i play us and jpn games on it? Jpn games would need a bridge adaptor no? And genesis carts would play without mods? Is this correct?Confused?Help please.

If you dont want to mod it, you can take the top cover off and play them this way.

This has worked with all my JP games so far.

Your saying if i take the top off and remove the cart lock, i can play us/jpn games? I know this is true on md1 is the same for md2? Even if i did this jpn games still wouldnt in fit the slot, would they? And the later region protected carts wouldnt work ethier?

All I know is that if you take the top off an MD2 it will play any japanese game that doesnt have region protection.

Even if i did this jpn games still wouldnt in fit the slot, would they?
They will. As far as I can tell, the only thing stopping the carts from fitting is the top cover.

Try it, its only four screws and takes about 30 seconds.

Yeh, I did this for my switched PAL SNES to play US games on it. As long as you're not a complete div and don't have small children or pets that'll attempt to lick the thing or live in a metal-works with iron filings flying around constantly, you should be alright.

cool, sorry to hijack this slightly, but is it possible to mod a megadrive to get something other than an rf signal out of it??

No need, just buy an rgb scart lead, although if you have a megadrive 2 a megadrive 1 scart lead wont work. You have to get one specificly for the megadrive 2.

Yeh, both Sega versions of the MegaDrive can output RGB natively, so there's no need for a mod, as SuperDanX says. I recommend Lik Sang for RGB SCART leads, they're generally of good build and picture quality and will only set you back about ?3.
