    Question for a friend

    Hi there NTSC-UK!

I have seen the expertise demonstrated here, so maybe you can help.

My friend recently brought a new LCD-TV, and it seems to not support 60hz, whenever anything 60hz is put into it, it goes black and white...

Is there anything he can do to solve this, or is it just a cheap crappy telly?

Not too sure, but sounds like he may not be using an rgb lead. I would of thought any new lcd would display 60hz.

Someone will be along in a minute with a superior brain to mine.

Yeh I think Nick is right. This is what happened with my PS2 on a CRT, until I got an RGB cable. Now I can play in all the colourfullness I like

So...the cables that come with it don't quallify as RGB?, I mean the red/white/yellow into addapter?

        Damnit, he won't be happy

The red, white, yellow is composite. An RGB cable looks like a scart cable, and can be picked up relatively cheaply. Got my PS2 one for a fiver from Game.

that sounds like the lcd tv doesn't like ntsc signal if your using the standard lead

Yep, it's one of the most common "mixups" regarding NTSC that people have. If a TV gives a stable picture but in b&w it means it can handle 60Hz but not NTSC colour frequency. Getting an RGB cable will solve this.

If the TV rolls on a 60Hz signal, then it can't support it and an RGB cable won't help.
