MCAROCKS - Thanks! If anyone has anything bad to say say it now as I'm goping to give these guys a call on Monday as the price and service is right - they have pictures of install on their web site and to my untrained eye they look good to me!

So one last question. Yod@ recomends Matrix Infinity chips. Are these better than DMS4 chips? Halp would be most appreciated. Just to add i'm not after any HDD loaders or anything like that so that won't factor in my chip choice nor am i interested in pirates, I just want to play my US/Jp and Pal games I still have!

go for the dms 4 lite or ghost 2 chips as these work great. the ghost 2 chip is from the makers of the messiah mods

Try this website, they are meant to be one of the best when it comes to modding:

Yeah, this lot are good, a little steep in terms of price perhaps, (it's a PS2 modders market I guess), but I got a modded PS2 from them ages back and it's still working (of course when I turn it on today the bastard will probably explode). I think it's a guy called Ben that runs the place, he seemed pretty straight up, mail him and I'm sure he'll sort you out (not in a drug dealer type fashion).

I've got a Matrix Infinity chip myself and it seems pretty solid, no silly holding down buttons nonsense and if I recall it'll play import PlayStation games as God intended, but I'm no expert on such matters.

          Speak easy guy.

PS. Can't vouch for you bangaio, but if you're not 100% about your soldering skills, I'd leave it to somebody who knows (or pretends to know) what they're doing. The only machine I've ever modded myself was the PlayStation (amazingly it still works), but the PS2 and Xbox look way out of my league (shakey hands and all).

Hello! I'm still around, just heavily involved in some other projects, so about the only gaming I get time for is the odd Sunday afternoon SNES Mario Kart grudge match, let alone messing around with soldering irons and websites

As for the modding, it's really not worth getting in any sort of legal troubles with Sony, so what with all the law changes and some other projects of mine that were using up a lot of time, it seemed like knocking it on the head was the obvious thing to do.

Stupid, really, as like I said before the vast majority of people on forums such as this did nothing but buy and play import originals by the bucketload, but I was just getting so many emails asking about backups and copies etc that I just got fu**ed off with the whole thing and left it at that.

I'm still happy to do things like Gamecube switching, Xbox modding with flashbioses only, and general repairs, but just no PS2 modding
