    Monitor problem "frequency is out of range"

    not at home and daughter switched her PC on tonight and starts up Windows (XP) but before desktop appears gets the message on attached photo, probably something really obvious but no joy on google so help appreciated please.

    Boot into safe mode and check no ones pissed about with the monitor settings

      Spot on my Ginger friend, daughter must have been playing about, it wouldn't even boot in safe mode though so had to got the Windows Recovery route, all sorted now. Thanks.

        Safe mode should boot into 640*480 in VGA colour, so it's a bit weird that it wouldn't even do that. Perhaps she deleted something important.

        My brother had a habit of doing this (still does and he's about 21 now). Anything that wouldn't run when he double-clicked it got deleted from my mum's comp, so I was constantly having to go round there and fix it. Suffice it to say, when I used to live there my PC was passworded up to the nines and the box had one padlock and one combination lock on it that attached it to the desk as well as held the case shut, so that he couldn't get anywhere near it.
