    In preperation for the XBOX360...

can anyone advise me on connections? I have a HDTV plasma which I intend to connect to the system via the HDTV component cable supplied. However, my DVD player is currently using the slot and unplugging is too much hassle as the wires go through the wall. Is there a component switch box I can use and will it reall reduce quailty that much?

Also, I have a wireless router connected to my PC via ethernet and I use it for wireless for my laptop. The PC and router are in another room so how would/should I wire it for Live?

    Thanks,

    Waz

if it has a vga connection you can buy a vga lead and hook up the 360 by that way

Regarding the LIVE connection, you can either buy a very long cable, or use one of these wireless network adapters made for the system, although the price at the moment is a little steep.

That wireless adapter is exactly what I need but it is very pricey!

My Plasma doesn't have VGA I am afraid

Here's a component switch box that fellow forumites have used and say is quite good, with little loss of quality, and very nice price as well.

Edit: PlayAsia reviews say that it has NO loss of quality, so theres a better reason to get it.

I've got one of those switchers, works a treat.

As for the wireless ness, other than buying the official adapter for ?60 or buying a wireless bridege to plug into it for ?50 there isn't much else you can do.

What about buying a wireless card for you pc at about ?15, then connecting your wireless router straight into the 360?

I'd concur - the Play Asia switch box is lovely for the price (although when I bought it, I paid just as much in customs charges as the damn thing cost on it's own )

You can buy it here too, UK-based (just down the road from here actually, though it's not actually a store).

I use the above switcher too, I notice no visible loss in quality, and I'm pickier than most.

That seems ideal chaps. However, I have my plasma wall mounted and having that dangling down the back connected to my DVD player component cables coming through the walls and then my 360 cables won't look tidy . Is there anything I can use to connect a box of some sort to the component cable running from my dvd player to the TV, such that I can plug both my dvd and xbox 360 so that they utlize the component cable going through the wall to the TV atm?
