    Super famicom help

Hi all just made an offer to buy a jpn super famicom (console only) and have some questions.
1)can i play pal snes games on it? If so, how?
2)will snes pads work on a sfc?
3)will i need a stepdown or can i buy a power pack i can plug straight in?
    Thanks for your help.

I have a uk psu for a Super Famicom here. (the burglars never took it!)

    Yours if you want it?

Are you sure? I always thought there were problems using Western pads on the SFC...or is it the other way round?

PAL pads will work on an import but import pads won't work on a PAL machine. You can place 2 wire jumpers on the control board in the PAL SNES to make it universal though, it's very easy.

As for the PSU, the JP SNES takes DC power, the UK one takes AC. I would recommend trying to source a JP PSU, to be honest. Find someone on here who lives in Japan and ask them nicely
As in another thread on here, I'd advise do not mix PSUs cross-territory or use a Megadrive one just because it says 9v or 10v on it. Very bad news for your JP SNES, which takes direct current.

UK PSUs give out AC power. SFCs take DC power.
Maybe Nick has some sort of special PSU that does work with a SFC, perhaps from some import place. Nick?

I used a MD1 PSU with the Super Famicom you're buying

Here's one on ebay (there's a few more with a slightly higher BIN price) -

                  auction

Buying one of these is the easiest solution I guess. I've used mine for my SFC, SFC Jr, AV Famicom and an import Megadrive and it's worked perfectly.

Would a pal one be ok though?

Yeah, of course. The ones you'll find on ebay uk are all for the PAL MD (I don't think the MD2 cable will fit though)
