Do such things even exist anymore? CRT is dead.

Lots of people are going for Dell's widescreen TFT monitors. I have the 20" one myself and it's wonderful, but the 24" is even better.

The 20" has lots of inputs - DVI, VGA, S-Video, and Composite.

The 24" has even more - DVI, VGA, Component, Composite, S-Video, as well as SD and CF.

With games though, you're not concentrating on a small area of the screen, you observe the whole thing, so 60hz is fine. I run all my games through a CRT monitor at 60hz and I've nerv had a problem, yet my eyes are very sensitive. Anything less tha 85hz for normal PC use and I get a headache.

        Not for many fps fans.

I've gone through 3 tft's, with response times ranging from 8 to 16ms, that were all recommended as being good for games, and the ghosting has driven me spare on each one. It's becoming rather expensive.

I am more than likely going to settle for the dell TV, they are good quality dell and as long as the shadowing/blurring is not as bad to the extent of double vision then Im ok.

Anything beats my 14 inch **** tv and that TV be nice setup in my room and I can finally watch some normal tv programs too.

It says its gto freeview intregred too i think, whats that and how do I use it!?!?!?!?!?

I prefer CRT monitors, and it's sad to see them phased out. They can run at more than one native resolution, which is the most important thing for me.

CRT monitors are much better than TFT monitors.

This is the one I have at the moment, have had it since 2002 and will mourn the day it becomes irreparable.

I greatly disagree. CRT's only look better because their lack of clarity hide the issues that are present in the source - don't really see that as actually being better.

They are superior for supporting different resolutions of course, which is why many PC owners prefer them.

I have the same monitor and couldn't agree more. Some PC games default to 60hz and I've never heard anyone say 'Ooooh my eyes' when playing them. You lot seem to forget that most games are still played on small portables running an interlaced image at 50hz. I used to do the same and never complained about eye problems.

Instead of making a whole new thread though I'd ask this here.

Just picked up a new TFT Widescreen monitor which I'm running at 1440x900 for XP and wanted to know wether the 360 would look decent through this as a second display for when my other half is hogging the main TV.

It says in the spec for the monitor that it has a 5ms refresh rate which I believe is quite good for gaming.

Should look decent. I had a cheap 20 inch 1680*1050 5ms TFT that I was using for a little while when I was in the middle of buying a new telly and the 360 looked lovely through VGA.

Every monitor is different though but I'd expect it to be pretty good.

Will it do 1440x900 through VGA or will it not? Think I'll pick up a VGA cable anyway seeing as my LCD TV can do it anyway so if it looks pap I can always use it on that

Off the top of my head I can't remember, but it doesn't do 1680*1050 and it still looked good (I think I set my 360 to 1280*720). Monitor just has to do a little bit of image scaling.

It will do 1360x768 and your monitor will have to scale or run lower with black lines.
