Something strange happened(pc and light) any idea why?

Hiya, earlier today i turned on my computer (lap-top) and after it started up the monitor made a strange noise, kind of high pitched, i was a bit worried and was going to re-start my computer, but as i was about to do this, the light in my bedroom starting going bright to dull (just a couple of times) then it went off and then the noise on the monitor stopped, is this just of case of..um..currency waves or something (is there such a thing!) thanks if you can help

No, not really Im no expert on this sorta thang but how often does it happen? Are you using a extension plug, is it overloaded? Im sure any electricians on the board will be more insightful though

Was the light switched on in the first place?
Did the bulb blow?

Where i am in that happens regulary.

Think its when the power supply goes to a low power mode or something

Get hold of surge-protected plugs, sounds like the power in your place went a bit silly. Surge-protected plugs are cheap but do their job well and are an essential piece of kit.
