My recent letter to Bulldog -

    Nick Pavey to customerservice

More options 19-Jun (2 days ago)

While being on hold today from 13.04 till 14.19,and put through to the
wrong departments three times,in a vain attempt at upgrading my out of
date, over priced tariif, I realised that I don't need to put up with a
service which brings me to craving a cigarette,a habit I thought I kicked
    over 4 years ago.

Every isp available in my area seem to be cheaper and faster, and the
customer service cannot possibly be any worse,so I am requesting the MAC
code so I can be free from the perils of sitting on the end of a recorded
message, thanking me for my patience,1 hour in.

    Yours sincerely

    Nick Pavey

Still waiting for the MAC code. Gonna try Tiscali i think,as they can offer me 6-8meg for ?18, whereas Bulldog = ?24 for 1 meg.

I'm considering moving over to demon , although it seems getting a mac code from my ISP to migrate is a little difficult. Out of my ISP's main suppliers ( Netservices and Entanet ) it can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 bloody years to get a mac code.
      In the end ofcom advises you to just cease your BT line and start afresh. ^^;

          Concept,

I've always had exceptional service from Pipex. Whilst I only use 2Mb, a quick glance at their site reveals they are offering unlimited 8Mb for less than ?30. I don't think I've ever had connection problems. On the one occasion I used customer services (accessing mail through Outlook on a non-Pipex connection) I spoke to a very intelligent, highly trained and motivated individual who knew what they were talking about. I agree that they aren't the cheapest, but do thoroughly recommend them.

          Ciao,

          George

            Cheers for the info.

I tried Pipex once, but they delayed connecting me by a month (I signed up but they didn't reply back to say what was going on for two weeks after I contacted them), so I eventually moved over to Zen (been with them for a while now, this is an old thread).

Torrent speeds aren't overwhelmingly fantastic, but customer service/HTTP/FTP downloads, consistency and the like are all first-rate. The rolling one-month contract also helps.

Im with Pipex, and the connections great, always at max when you want it, torrents download at max, as long as you encrypt ;-)

However we're paying a whopping ?37.99 a month now, for 2 mbit, when every other bugger has 8mbit, and they are advertising 4mbit to new customers only - tied into a contract so cant get out of it without servere penalties..

Their customer service is terrible - always contradict each other, never give you a straight answer. When asking when we would get Pipex MAX, they actually get the "Finance Manager" to respond with a fictitious answer..

Previous ISP was NTL, we were with them for about 5 years on broadband, very reliable and few problems.
