Playing movie files on 360 without Media Center

I'm sure most of us don't have media center PC's, god I'd love one but I just plain don't, unfortunatly. However, for those of us using XP pro or home there WILL be a program soon enough to get this to work, surely? What I'm asking anybody in the know out there is:

    1) Is it is possible?

    and

    2) Is it likely?

    Cheers

I imagine it will happen at some point, I'm kinda suprised it hasn't happened with media centre extenders, but more hackers will turn their attention to the 360.

You can't, but still it'd be a nice feature if someone can do even just the standard things

The thing is, the whole 'media extender' thing is bollocks, it just spools files down the network to your xbox 360 - the media extender could very easily be used for playing videos on the 360, but as MS want to sell the "Media Centre" operating system they disabled it.. shame

Yeah, it wouldnt be a very hard thing to do I'm guessing, so something should come along soon enough.

I cant believe I lost my Media Center CDs too!!!
