If not, what does one need to get a NTSC game working on a PAL N64?

Yes it was released on PAL

To get import games working on a PAL machine your best bet is the Passport Plus version 3 import adaptor

It had good reviews, not played it myself yet though.

Yes it was released in PAL and yes it's a very good game.

I'm not usually a fan of RPGs but I found it captivating from beginning to end. If you're a hardcore RPG fan you might find it a bit basic but to me it was pretty much perfect.

It's a great balance between action, strategy and medium level RPG elements. Definitely one of the N64's "underrated" and dark horse quality games...

I really enjoyed this game too. If you've ever played mario RPG on the SNES its kind of like that but a bit simplified. Still a very addictive and often overlooked game tho.

I agree one of the most charming games I have played and being set in the mario universe really makes it.

Just like the 'Cube (SOA I'm looking at you) a lot of niche titles were released in small quantities. If you weren't there on release date you didn't have a chance
